First Piano Recital, May 2012
I am continuing to deal with my blogging back-blog! Here are pictures from Margaret's first piano recital. We did a duet. Can you believe I messed up the first three cords of my part? I helped Margaret get her fingers to where they were supposed to be, then forgot to look at where mine were!
Margaret played perfectly and easily forgave me my error. She is enjoying the piano as much as William seems to hate it!

Medicine Bow Peak: 12,013 ft. ( 3,661 m)
Claire visited from Germany! My family went camping and I got her all to myself for a few days. What an utter treat! Claire is a world traveler, a thinker, and an adventurer. A kinder soul does not exist. She makes you want to see more of the world. She inspired me to climb this mountain a little too soon after back surgery. I insisted.
And, it was so completely worth it. Wyoming has wilderness.
The peak was like a pile of loose rocks on the edge of the earth. The spaces between them. One could easily imagine them all tumbling down, looking down on the earth as if in an airplane.
But there was no airplane!
Only rocks and sky.
A view like this is humbling. Makes you feel like a tiny speck in the geology.
Thank you for your visit, Claire!
Love, your Southeastern Wyoming tour guide.

Little Kickers Soccer
Little Kickers soccer was a disaster this year! Eric had been wanting to play soccer since he was one year old. We have had to literally restrain him from rushing the field during William's and Margaret's games for two years. But now that he is three, and finally old enough to be a little kicker ( Eric: It's" BIG KICKER!"), he has largely refused to go on the field! This is a rare shot of him interacting with the ball before running screaming and crying off the field and into our laps. I think this has something to do with having Little Kickers soccer after a long day at school and right before bedtime. Eric was not the only Little Kicker losing it on the sidelines with his mommy. It was pretty hilarious soccer, since nobody knew where they were going, but not funny enough for us to persist this season. We're going to try again if Eric is interested in the Spring. That's my little big kicker!
Eleven Years!
Glenn and Ineke stayed home with the children and Sean and I got to take a weekend vacation for our eleventh anniversay! The present for eleven years is steel. Steel? We decided to take a drive in our steel car. We started in Denver, by going to see The Book of Mormon. We loved it!! I could have done without the song about dysentery which included visual aids, but what can you expect from the South Park guys? I just loved going to the theatre! And I loved everything else about the musical, too!
Then we drove out to Central City, Colorado for the part of the weekend that was the main event for Sean: Los Straightjackets were playing at a Beer Festival! Sean and I saw Los Straightjackets at Second Story in Bloomington in 1997! Before the turn of the century. Sean remembers a lot about the band from that night. I remember a lot about Sean from that night and something about some weird guys in Mexican wrestling masks.
Little did I know we'd be seeing them again in a different part of the country 15 years later! The masks have helped them to age flawlessly. Great gimimck! The music was great.
Thanks for the first eleven years, Sean!
Your present this year is an autographed CD!

Beeba's visit!
Beeba came to visit us! We had a great week together, but it must have been hectic because we only managed to take pictures of our first adventure together, a visit to the Wildlife Refuge near Denver. I think I may have taken some pictures of my mother, whom I really do cherish, but were they with her camera? Because all I have in my camera is pictures of wild animals!
It was a fun adventure and the children keep talking about this trip as well as about their Beeba! Can't wait to see you again in December and this time watch out, we'll be using the camera!

First Day of School: September 4, 2012
We had some issues standing still for our first day of school picture.Excitement was in the air!
Once we managed to stand still, William expertly crossed his eyes, avoiding the notice of the photographer. What will this school year hold? We have a thrid grader, a first grader, and a "morning class pronghorn, afternoon class non-napping moose".

Soccer Season
William and his team got to play a short game during half time of the Wyoming Cowgirl's Soccer game!
They played on the real field with an audience! And Pistol Pete ( mascot) was there, too!
I'm a soccer mom. Mine is number twelve.

Go Cowboys!
It's football season again, though I don't remember it ever ending it seems to come around so fast. The first few games in the fall generally have bearable weather, so we showed up. We are trying to raise the kids to enjoy sports to make up for my shortcomings as a human being. The sports-related short-comings. It was a beautiful day and we sat with some friends. I'm pretty sure the Cowboys lost, but they made enough touchdowns to make the cannon go off a few times, which was thrilling, of course! The half time show was really good! All the high school marching bands from the whole state came. They all fit on the field. One high school only had one dude in its marching band, but he marched around just the same, banging his beatle kill sticks together. It's a reality of living in the least populated state. Something about the defense and the offense, a little hot dog in the hair and finally, it was over! Go Cowboys!
Eric: " Will it EVER be Halloween?"
It's late September and we are prepared for Halloween. We even have some partially stuffed old pantyhose waiting in the laundry room to be turned into a limp body for the front lawn. William wants our house to be the scariest house on the block. Should be no problem, as I'm fairly certain it already is. Just doesn't look that way from the outside. Books and covers. The block can get a little scary, though. Just last week Sean and Eric walked by some hunters who had pulled over across the street to carve up their fresh carcass in the public park! We are very in tune with the wilderness, here in Wyoming. May take a little more effort to scare these people. But anyway, we are ready for Halloween and this year the theme is : SCARY. We have The Scream, a Vampiress, and 'lil Darth Vader goin' on in our living room. Not sure what Sean's going to be, but I'm thinking it would be fun to get a duck hat and go to work as a " Quack Doctor", myself.
Those eyes!
Help! Darth Vader!

Adventures
Since blogging, we've been to Germany for a two week visit!
Eric turned 3 years old and we celebrated at Oma and Grandpa's house with " a chocolate cake with a blue moose on it and balloons", just like he ordered.
We celebrated April Fool's Day - I tricked the kids by sneaking a drop of three different colors of food coloring in the bottom of their glasses. Then when I poured the milk, I pretended to use the power of my mind to change the color of the milk. Impressed even myself!!
Then we celebrated Margaret's 6th birthday.
We were still in the April Fool's Day spirit...
It's been soccer season. Margaret is playing too, but we don't have pictures yet because Sean has been too busy being her coach to remember! This weekend we'll get pictures of Margaret and her pink soccer cleats.
Sean participated in his departmental Bowlarama...and his team won! Supergeeks!
We died Easter eggs !
We participated in an event in which the kids got to hang out with the REAL Wyoming Cowboys!
We had dinner at fancy locations...
We went hiking in the beautiful weather...
And I think that's why I haven't been finding time to blog lately!
